Holcim has the ambition to become the world leader in sustainable building materials and to accelerate its green growth. In this context, the allocation to Holcim of EUR 328 million by the European Union’s innovation fund is a consecration for the cement manufacturer. Indeed, this amount will be allocated to the development of two carbon capture and storage projects in Poland and Germany. These projects contribute to the company’s net-zero roadmap to decarbonize its operations and are part of the EU’s Green Deal promoting clean technologies enabling the emergence of a climate-neutral economy by 2050. Furthermore, offering building materials with the lowest possible carbon footprint has become a major competitive challenge in the cement industry. Therefore, these projects should allow Holcim to consolidate its leading position.
