The group, world leader in cocoa and chocolate products, reported an 8.7% increase in volumes in the first six months of the 2021/22 fiscal year. Admittedly, the company has benefited from favorable base effects, but volumes are well above pre-Covid levels. Turnover increased by 16.5% in local currencies. This figure incorporates the inflationary pressures that Barry Callebaut manages through its “cost-plus” pricing model applicable to the majority of its customers. In terms of operating profit, the group posted growth of 5%. This figure includes a provision of CHF 5 million on assets in Russia. The group’s CEO was optimistic about the development of the business, in particular due to very good international diversification and the contractual model of passing on the costs of raw materials to customers. These elements should enable Barry Callebaut to achieve its objectives despite a more volatile environment.
