The campaign for the vote of September 24th concerning the reform of the pension system 2020 is launched and every stakeholder is trying to convince us of their own arguments. In this jungle of (des)information, it sometimes is difficult to know what is right and what wrong.

The provision, in consultation until beginning of October, provides precious details about the planed implementation of the reform, should it be accepted by the people. Its major points are:

Measures effective January 1st, 2018:

  • Progressive increase of the reference age for women to 65 years
  • Flexibilisation of the start of retirement

Measures effective January 1st, 2019:

  • Pogressiv reduction of the minimum conversion rate in the professional pension system from 6.8% to 6.0%
  • AHV/AVS: Increase of pension for new retirees of monthly 70 Swiss Francs and pension for married couplies of 155% of the maximum pension (currently 150%)

Measures effective January 1st, 2021:

  • Financing of the measures through increase of the contributions to the AHV/AVS of 0.3 points (0.15% for employers, 0.15% for employees).
