Racing also in Germany as part of the Garmin Velothon of Berlin, IAM Cycling certainly was in evidence on the roads of Brandenburg.  After a route that was 184.6 kilometers with a start and finish in front of the prestigious Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, Matteo Pelucchi notched up a fantastic 2nd place just behind Marcel Kittel and in front of André Greipel.

The day was marked by a six man breakaway that never managed to exceed a three minute advantage, which left little doubt that the day would end in a bunch sprint with all sprint teams seeking to position their strongmen for the victory.

Directeur Sportif Eddy Seigneur was satisfied with the efforts of his riders.

“We have lived up to our expectations of getting a good result because this is a course tailor made for a rider like Matteo.  The guys tried to place him at the end, but we were missing one or two riders needed to deal with the swarm of competing sprinter teams.  Nevertheless, Matteo Pelucchi managed to win the place on André Greipel’s wheel.  However in the finale, they were stuck in a bit of a traffic jam and Marcel Kittel had already started his own sprint.  Matteo tried to overhaul him, but just did not manage.”

This result for Matteo Pelucchi, returning to the peloton after the Tour of Norway, is his fifth podium of the season which notably includes his victory in the first stage of the Circuit de la Sarthe on April 2nd.
