“The most important goal is of course to haul in a victory, but I also attach a great deal of importance to the experience that the younger guys will gain during Dwars door Vlaanderen. I hope that they will continue to grow as professionals.”

As ever, Eddy Seigneur lays it on the line when talking about the first race in Belgium that his IAM Cycling riders will tackle this week. He would like to give his group of young riders a lot of freedom to find their feet and be in the middle of the action.

“Normally, these are the guys who would be riding in support of leaders like Haussler and Löfkvist. But with our more experienced riders taking a break ahead of the GP E3 on Friday, our greener guys will have a unique chance on Wednesday to ride for themselves and show what they are made of in the middle of the climbs, cobbles and wind of the region.”
