Rain and near freezing temperatures did not make the Route Adélie any easier for the riders.

Nevertheless, the IAM Cycling team was still able to make their presence felt throughout the race which is the 4th Coupe de France event for the season.

Even if Alessandro Malaguti (Androni Giocattoli-Venezuela) managed to take the sprint victory at the end of the day, IAM Cycling’s Marcel Aregger was happy to come away with a respectable 15th place in a difficult event.

According to Directeur Sportif Rubens Bertogliati, the IAM Cycling riders threw all they could at the course.

“The guys really gave everything.  They were slipping into every break, in spite of the fact that we didn’t have that much luck.  Jonathan Fumeaux and Patrick Schelling both crashed out of breakaways they had helped form.  Fortunately, they didn’t seriously hurt themselves.  The conditions were really difficult, practically with winter weather dogging them the whole day.  And then when the day came down to a bunch finish, we were missing a top sprinter to figure in the finale.  Marcel Aregger took a promising 15th place, and Marcel Wyss also was showing the jersey well in the reduced lead bunch.”
